The Chief Executive Officer read the following Statement of Recording -

A prayer was read by Kevin McKenna from Maroondah Interfaith Network.

Cr Spears advised that all Councillors had an opportunity to reflect on the past four year Council term.
Councillors Symon, Jones, Dib, Stojanovic, Damante, Hancock and Steane reflected on the four year term, thanking the community, Councillors, the Corporate Management Team and Council officers.
During Cr Symon’s speech he advised that he would not be nominating for the upcoming Council Elections and therefore would be stepping down as Councillor at the end of the term.

Moved Cr Symon, Seconded Cr Hancock 114/24 That council 1. having followed all the required statutory procedures under section 112 and 114 of the local government act 2020 (act) in relation to its proposal of a land exchange, resolves to i. transfer the land shown coloured green on the plan contained in schedule 1 to this report, being the land contained in lot 1 and 2 on title plan tp 965746 (SCHEDULe 3), known as the former road adjoining 24 palmerston road west, ringwood (council land) to the adjoining owner; and ii. ACQUIRE the land shown coloured blue on the plan contained in schedule 1 and schedule 2 to this report, being part of the land contained in lot 2 on plan of subdivision ps 413267, known as part of 24 palmerston road west, ringwood (owner’s land) 2. authorises council’s chief executive officer or any officer with delegated authority to undertake the administrative procedures necessary to enable council to carry out its functions under the act in relation to this matter

Cr Spears presented Cr Steane OAM with a Letter Under Seal which recognises the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) Mayor Emeritus and Councillor Service Award presented at an event on the 12 September 2024. Cr Steane received the honorary title of Mayor Emeritus for completing three terms as Mayor of Maroondah City Council in 2011/12, 2018/19 and 2022/23.
Cr Spears congratulated Cr Steane on achieving 15 years of service for the Maroondah community as Councillor for the former Wyreena Ward and the current Yarrunga Ward.

Cr Steane spoke on behalf of the Councillors and thanked Cr Spears for the past year as Mayor. Cr Steane presented Cr Spears a gift.
Cr Damante spoke on behalf of the Councillors and thanked Cr Macdonald for the past year as Deputy Mayor. Cr Damante presented Cr Macdonald a gift.
Councillors Jones, Dib, Symon, Stojanovic, Damante, Hancock and Steane thanked the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for their contribution over the past year.
The CEO thanked Cr Spears and Cr Macdonald for the past year as Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
