Minutes of the Council Meeting held in the Council Chamber Realm, on Monday 21 February 2022 at 7:30pm.

The Mayor, Cr Symon welcomed all present to the meeting.

 

The Chief Executive Officer read the following Statement of Recording -

The Mayor Cr Symon, advised of the recent passing of Mr Brian Coopersmith OAM, Freeman of the City. A memorial service had been held at Karralyka today, 21 February 2022

In the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2010, Brian was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in recognition of his service to the community of Maroondah.

Brian was made a Freeman of the City on 18 April 2016 for outstanding community service. The honour of Freeman of the City recognises the outstanding achievements and dedicated service to the community by a person over their lifetime, and is the highest honour a Council can bestow upon an individual. The Coopersmith Pavilion at East Ringwood Reserve acknowledges the contribution Brian made as a Life Member of the East Ringwood Football Club.

As a mark of mourning and respect, the Australian National Flag was flown at half-mast all day today on Council buildings as well as a minutes silence in the meeting.
