The Mayor, Cr Rob Steane welcomed all to the May Council meeting.
The Chief Executive Officer read the following Statement of Recording -
“Please note that this meeting is being recorded and streamed live on the internet. All care is taken to maintain your privacy; however, as a visitor in the public gallery, your presence may be recorded.”
A prayer was read by Reverend Scott Hawkins from Urban Life.
The Councillor Pledge was read by the Mayor.
The Acknowledgement of Country was read by the Mayor.
The Mayor, Cr Steane acknowledged the King’s Coronation that was held on 6 May 2023, Reconciliation Week that will be held on 27 May to 3 June 2023 and IDAHOBIT Day that will be held on 17 May 2023.

“With Q-East's Rainbow Ball coming up, will Council consider establishing an LGBTIQA+ advisory committee that includes community representatives?”
Director Strategy and Development
“Council facilitates the Maroondah Access, Equity and Inclusion Committee that was established in 2020 to holistically consider the accessibility, social inclusion and equity needs of all population groups in our city. This Committee specifically lists LGBTIQA+ inclusion as a focus area and includes a range of community representatives with relevant lived experience to advise Council in this area, alongside partner organisations who as members advocate on behalf of their clients.”
