The Chief Executive Officer opened the meeting and welcomed all present, noting the presence of:
· Freeman of the City, Mr Bill Wilkins
· Freeman of the City, Mrs Ann Hubbard
· Cr Geoff Gough, current Councillor and former Mayor of Manningham City Council
· Cr Terry Avery, current Councillor and former Mayor Yarra Ranges Shire Council
The Chief Executive Officer read the following Statement of Recording -
“Ladies & Gentlemen - Please note that this meeting is being recorded and streamed live on the internet. All care is taken to maintain your privacy; however, as a visitor in the public gallery, your presence may be recorded.”
The prayer was read by Lt-Col Ian Southwell, Ringwood Salvation Army.
The Acknowledgement of Country was read by the Chief Executive Officer.

ELECTION OF ACTING CHAIR
The Chief Executive Officer requested nominations for the position of Acting Chair.
Cr Dib nominated Cr Lamont as Acting Chair.
The Chief Executive Officer asked Cr Lamont whether she accepts the nomination.
Cr Lamont accepted the nomination.
There being no further nominations the Chief Executive Officer declared Cr Lamont as Acting Chair.
Cr Lamont took the Chair.

THAT THE COUNCIL MEETING SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER 2018 TO NOVEMBER 2019 BE ADOPTED:-

All meetings to commence at 7.30pm and are held in the
Council Chambers, Braeside Avenue, Ringwood.
election of mayor – year 2018 / 2019
Cr Lamont, as Acting Chair, called for nominations for the position of Mayor.
Cr Dib nominated Cr Steane for the position of Mayor for the coming 12 months.
Cr Lamont, as Acting Chair, asked Cr Steane whether he accepts the nomination.
Cr Steane accepted the nomination with pleasure.
There being no further nominations Cr Lamont, as Acting Chair, declared Cr Steane elected Mayor for 2018/2019.
Cr Lamont placed the ‘Mayoral Drop’ around the neck of the newly elected Mayor.
The Mayor, Cr Steane took the Chair and thanked all Councillors, his family and Maroondah employees. The Mayor spoke of his delight at being at being elected Mayor and looked forward to working with Councillors and Officers to achieve major outcomes for the Community over the next 12 months; whilst speaking to a Powerpoint containing photos of current and upcoming projects.
election of DEPUTY mayor – year 2018 / 2019
The Mayor, Cr Steane called for nominations for the position of Deputy Mayor.
Cr Symon nominated Cr Spears for the position of Deputy Mayor for the coming 12 months.
The Mayor asked Cr Spears whether she accepts the nomination.
Cr Spears accepted the nomination with pleasure.
There being no further nominations the Mayor declared Cr Spears elected Deputy Mayor for 2018/2019.
All Councillors present individually offered their congratulations and support to the incoming Mayor and Deputy Mayor, and acknowledged the leadership provided by the outgoing Mayor Cr Lamont and the Deputy Mayor Cr Symon.
The Chief Executive Officer, on behalf of Council employees, offered congratulations and support to the incoming Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
The Deputy Mayor, Cr Kylie Spears responded.
The Mayor Cr Steane, on behalf of Council, made presentations to the outgoing Mayor Cr Lamont and the Deputy Mayor Cr Symon.
Cr Lamont and Cr Symon both responded.
The Mayor, Cr Steane closed the meeting, inviting the public gallery to supper at the Karralyka Centre.
The open forum closed at 8:10.
