The Chief Executive Officer took the chair and opened the meeting.
The prayer was read by Lt-Col Ian Southwell, Ringwood Salvation Army.
The Acknowledgement of Country was read by the Chief Executive Officer.
Acknowledgement was also made of the attendance in the galley of Ann Hubbard – Freeman of the City.

ELECTION OF ACTING CHAIR
The Chief Executive Officer requested nominations for the position of Acting Chair.
Cr Steane nominated Cr Dib as Acting Chair.
The Chief Executive Officer asked Cr Dib whether he accepts the nomination.
Cr Dib accepted the nomination.
The being no further nominations the Chief Executive Officer declared Cr Dib as Acting Chair.
Cr Dib took the Chair.

election of mayor – year 2017 / 2018
Cr Dib, as Acting Chair, called for nominations for the position of Mayor.
Cr P Macdonald nominated Cr Lamont for the position of Mayor for the coming 12 months.
Cr Dib, as Acting Chair, asked Cr Lamont whether she accepts the nomination.
Cr Lamont accepted the nomination with pleasure.
There being no further nominations Cr Dib, as Acting Chair, declared Cr Lamont elected Mayor for 2017/2018.
Cr Dib placed the ‘Mayoral Drop’ around the neck of the newly elected Mayor.
The Mayor, Cr Lamont took the Chair.
election of DEPUTY mayor – year 2017 / 2018
The Mayor, Cr Lamont called for nominations for the position of Deputy Mayor.
Cr Spears nominated Cr Symon for the position of Deputy Mayor for the coming 12 months.
The Mayor asked Cr Symon whether he accepts the nomination.
Cr Symon accepted the nomination with pleasure.
There being no further nominations the Mayor declared Cr Symon elected Deputy Mayor for 2017/2018.
All Councillors present individually offered their congratulations and support to both the Mayor, Cr Lamont and Deputy Mayor, Cr Symon.
The Chief Executive Officer, on behalf of Council employees, offered congratulations and support to the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
The Mayor, Cr Nora Lamont responded – looking forward to working with Councillors to achieve major outcomes for the community. She was thrilled to be the first woman Councillor to have a second term as Mayor.
The Deputy Mayor, Cr Mike Symon responded.
Cr Dib, on behalf of Council, acknowledged with a presentation of flowers the work carried out over the last twelve months by the outgoing Deputy Mayor, Cr Lamont.
On behalf of Council the Mayor, Cr Lamont acknowledged the outgoing Mayor and Mayoress, Cr Tony Dib and Mrs Janet Dib with the presentation of a gift and flowers. All Councillors had marveled at Cr Dib’s resolve to continue serving the community after the most tragic of family circumstances.
The Mayor, Cr Lamont invited the public gallery to supper at the Karralyka Centre.
The meeting closed at 8:05pm.
