PUBLIC QUESTION TIME

Question: Resident: Mr Peter Feeney, 11 O’Neill Way, Warranwood VIC 3134

“In 2011 Council decided to cease printing and distributing a hardcopy version of the Community Directory. After strong representation from The Healthy Ageing Network, and other groups and individuals concerned that this would be disadvantage older residents, Council reversed this decision and undertook to continue printing the Community Directory and distributing it to all residents. There are some convers that this policy may have now changed. Could you please advise what is the current policy of Council in regard to the printing and distribution of the Community Directory.”

Response: Chief Executive Officer -

“The Community Directory is produced as both an online and printed resource providing a listing of a wide range of local community and regional resources available in Maroondah.

The online version of the Directory is available through Council’s website and provides the most current information, as community groups can update at any time. The online version can be found on the front page of Council’s website, and provides an easy search function via organisation name or category. The search is printable in an easy to read format.

The Community Directory continues to be printed every two years, with the most recent version printed this month. Copies of the printed Directory are available from all Council service centres, libraries, community houses, Citizens Advice Bureau and other Council facilities throughout Maroondah; via Welcome Kits to new residents; and also on request from any member of the community. Council is committed to providing equitable service to all in our community, and is able to offer a copy of the Community Directory in large print format on request.

Council provides ongoing promotion to the community regarding accessing both online and printed versions of the Community Directory using a variety of communication channels.”
