The Chief Executive Officer took the Chair and opened the meeting; welcoming all present and acknowledging in presence of Mr William (Bill) Wilkins in the Public Gallery (Freeman of the City of Maroondah and former Mayor and Councillor of the former City of Ringwood).
The prayer was read by Rev Stan Clarke, Ringwood Uniting Church.
The Acknowledgement of Country was read by the Chief Executive Officer.
ELECTION OF ACTING CHAIRMAN
The Chief Executive Officer requested nominations for the position of Acting Chairman.
Cr Willmott nominated Cr Dib as Acting Chairman.
The Chief Executive Officer asked Cr Dib whether he was willing to accept the nomination.
Cr Dib stated that he accepted the nomination.
There being no further nominations, the Chief Executive Officer declared Cr Dib as Acting Chairman.
Cr Dib took the Chair.

election of mayor – year 2015 / 2016
Cr Fitzgerald, on behalf of Council and Council Employees, congratulated the outgoing Mayor Tony Dib and Mayoress Janet on a successful term and presented them with a gift.
Former Mayor Cr Tony Dib responded, reflecting upon his term as Mayor.
Cr Dib, as Acting Chairman, called for nominations for the position of Mayor.
Cr Gleeson nominated Cr Thomas for the position of Mayor for the coming 12 months.
The Acting Chairman asked Cr Thomas whether she was willing to accept the nomination.
Cr Thomas accepted the nomination with pleasure.
There being no further nominations the Acting Chairman declared Cr Thomas elected Mayor for 2015/2016 Mayoral year.
Cr Dib placed the ‘Mayoral Drop’ around the neck of the newly elected Mayor.
The Mayor, Cr Thomas took the Chair.
Crs Willmott, Steane, Marks, Lowe, Lamont, Gleeson, Fitzgerald and Dib offered their congratulations and support to the Mayor.
The Chief Executive Officer, on behalf of Council staff, offered congratulations and support to the Mayor.
Cr Thomas extended her appreciation to Councillors for her election as Mayor and outlined some of the priorities and challenges to be met over the next 12 months.
The Mayor, Cr Thomas invited the public gallery to supper at the Karralyka Centre.
The meeting closed at 7.55pm.
