Presentation Of Letter Under Seal

The Mayor presented a Letter Under Seal congratulating Miss Suzanne McSolvin in recognition who was recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day 2015 Honours.

‘No to Homophobia Campaign’

The Mayor then spoke of Council’s resolution from its’ meeting held on 15 December 2014 at which time Council committed to increasing its support in challenging all forms of discrimination on the basis of sexuality, sex or gender identity, through the adoption of three Inclusive Maroondah Initiatives.  One of those initiatives adopted by Council was to sign its commitment to the ‘No to Homophobia Campaign’ which is a state-wide online campaign.  As a symbolic gesture, the Mayor on behalf of Maroondah City Council, formally signed Council’s commitment to the campaign.
